Non-Collection of Bins on Bank Holidays
I have been contacted by residents throughout the constituency about the inadequate service for those estates receiving a South Dublin County Council bin collection on a Monday. This is becoming a joke. With bank holiday Mondays five times a year and possibly six depending on New Year’s Day, residents could have a full bin not collected for a month.
This is because the new brown bin and the black bin are now collected in separate weeks. The bins are not collected on bank holidays, meaning that you have to wait until the next scheduled service, two weeks after. Some people don’t fill their bins for ages, but others, particularly young families will find they fill up quicker.
I have been in touch with the Council and they cite “industrial relations issues” as the reason why a Saturday collection can’t be held instead.
If your estate has a Monday collection, get in touch. This is one issue where people power will have to have an input.
