Raw sewage problem on Orchard Road
Following on from ongoing complaints of overflowing raw sewage in Orchard Road, Clondalkin, the Council was notified recently about the problem by my office.
Officers of the Environmental Health Office based at South Dublin County Council are currently pursuing the issue. The Council maintains that the problem is a private one and needs to be rectified by a private resident.
I am not commenting on the legal niceties or otherwise of this matter. Suffice to say that the overlflow is located close to a local surgery visited by a large number of clients, many of whom are elderly with chronic illness, are young children, or are pregnant woment. The matter needs to be dealt with as a matter of urgency from a public health and safety perspective.
