Changes to Route 80 (old 26)

Effective for Palmerstown and Chapelizod residents from Sunday February 8th next, but merger with 130 route still on the cards.
The NTA could have saved themselves a lot of trouble if they had taken on board the results of my survey when I sent it in originally and when I pointed out the obvious issues face to face. Instead they have done several tweaks and a u-turn on something they claimed was not possible earlier, a route further up the quays, but only following massive protests by residents.
As a result there will now be a direct service up the quays to the city centre, although they have refused to go any closer to Merrion Square, the old route. But plans apparently remain to merge with the 130 route later in 2926 something which is seen as a fudge rather than an optimal service for anyone’s benefit.
The new routing map is below from Dublin Bus.

We also still have major “no show” issues with this and many other routes. The NTA is unfortunately not fit for purpose as an unelected quango, but it suits the Government to farm out responsibility. It has not funded what is there adequately, whoever calls the shots on a daily basis.
