This is a rolling update on plans to improve the District Centre area on Dodsboro Road as first presented to elected members at the September 2023 Area Committee Meeting.
April 3, 2024 - Intiial works to commence shortly
The contract has now been awarded to DM Morris Ltd. Works are to commence onsite on 8th April 2024, with site compound set up by the green field in front of shops. Â

As works progress SDCC will issue more reliable dates for progressing specific phases in consultation with the traders and residents so as to minimise disruption and uncertainty.

Works are due to be completed in July 2024.

This scheme will involve the upgrading and modernisation of Dodsborough Shopping Centre and its environment.
Works include:
• Carriageway – Proposed carriageway resurfacing in front of shops, including red chippings on raised table
• Pedestrian facilities - Improvement of footpath fronting the shops to a shared use pavement with new block paving.
• New street furniture includes bins
• Drainage - installation of bioretention raingarden and filter drain.
• Carpark – Rationalization of the car parking layout.
